Instructions for sending parcels abroad

How to send a parcel to EU countries

There are two ways to send items.

Pay delivery online

  1. Select the right parcel size and pack the parcel.

  2. Enter the necessary information and pay for the item online.

  3. After the payment, you’ll receive a Helposti code. Write it on the parcel or print out an address label.

  4. Leave the parcel at a Posti outlet or a Posti Parcel Locker.

Pay for the delivery at a Posti outlet

You’ll get a printed address label and tracking code for your parcel.

Sending instructions

EU countries do not require a customs declaration or other official paperwork for non-commercial items, such as gifts. If you’re sending commercial goods, you’ll need a sales invoiceor a pro forma invoice.

How to send a parcel outside the EU

The Finnish Customs requires exact customs declaration-based electronic content information regarding goods sent outside the EU. Posti forwards the information to the customs in the destination country.

When you buy an international item online, the service directs you to fill in the required information. Enter the information in English or in the language of the destination country. This way, the correct customs declaration (CN 23) is printed out for the item. It suffices when sending items to countries that only require one declaration. In the country information, check the number of customs declarations required by the destination country. If necessary, also print out the required number of customs declarations (CN 23) and attach them on to the item.

The delivery time of an Express Parcel is 1–3 working days to the EU and 2–8 working days to the rest of the world. The delivery times are indicative. Posti is not responsible for any delivery delays arising from customs inspections or other measures in the destination country.

Write the following information on the parcel: The Helposti code, the recipient’s name and address as well as your name and address. You’ll receive a Helposti code once you’ve paid for the item. You can find the Helposti code on the payment confirmation page. We will also send you the code by email. Do not write phone numbers on the parcel to avoid compromising anyone’s information security. You can also use an address label instead of a Helposti code. Print the address label and tape it onto the parcel. In this case, do not write the information on the parcel. You can open the address label for printing via the link shown on the payment confirmation page. You will also receive an address label as an attachment to your confirmation email.
