Need more space but don’t want to carry things yourself? Posti handles the transport – no car needed. Everything is managed in one app: from pickup to storage and return. The trial runs from 15 September 2025 to 30 May 2026. Participation is subject to a fee.

Prices during the pilot

  • Storage: €29.90/m³/month – minimum €14.90/month

  • Transport: €19.90/m³ per pickup or return – minimum €4.90

  • Packing materials are included and delivered to your home.

Transport cost depends on volume. For example, if you store 10 moving boxes (1 m³), your first invoice includes the monthly storage fee (€29.90) and pickup (€19.90). After that, you only pay for storage until you order the items back.

Remember to check if your home insurance covers storage outside your home.

What is Posti Remote Home Storage? 

  • Posti Remote Home Storage is a new service under development that Posti will test in autumn 2025. The service will allow you to have more space in your home easily and conveniently. The service works with a convenient application that allows you to simply order a pickup and pack your items. Posti will pick up your things and take them to the warehouse without you having to worry about transporting or organizing anything.  

Who is the service designed for? 

  • The service is suitable for everyone who needs more space in their home for one reason or another – whether you just need a little extra space in your home or a little breather and orderliness in the middle of a move or other life change. 

How long is the trial? 

  • The trial will start on September 15, 2025, and last for six months until March 16, 2026. 

Is it mandatory to be a customer for the trial throughout the trial period? 

  • No, it isn't. You can use the service for as long as you need during the trial period. However, the shortest invoiceable time is one month’s storage.  

In which regions is the service available? 

  • Those living in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area can apply to become customers for the trial. The customers for the trial will be selected from those who submit applications. A limited number of customers will be accepted for the trial period.  

Is the application binding? 

  • Applying to become a customer for the trial is not binding. For those who are selected for the trial period, we will provide separate instructions on how to start using the service.  

Can I sign a fixed-term contract? 

  • During the trial period, you can make a fixed-term contract for 4 months or a contract valid until further notice. A customer relationship that is valid until further notice always continues one month at a time. Please note that the trial period of the service is September 15, 2025–March16, 2026.  


How do I start using the service? 

  • If you are selected as a customer for the trial period, you will be sent instructions on how to download the application for the service. You will order and pay for the service via the application. 


How do I get my things back?  

  • You can order some or all of your stored items back via the application at a time that suits you. 

Do I have to carry or transport my things myself? 

  • The service is designed so that you don't have to carry your items and you don't need a car. All you have to do is pack your things and we will pick them up from your home.  

Can I choose my own pickup and delivery time? 

  • You can choose a suitable time from the booking calendar in the application.  

How will my things be transported? 

  • Posti will deliver your things safely from exactly where you want with Posti’s home delivery. During the trial period, the transport area is limited to the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.  

Can I pick my items from the warehouse? 

  • In order to ensure the safety of your and our other customers’ property, there is no access to the warehouse. The storage and return of the items will only take place with transport ordered via the application. 

Can I cancel my ordered transport? 

  • You can cancel the ordered transport via the application. Please note that it may not be possible to complete the change or cancellation if it is made less than 24 hours before transport. Posti has the right to charge the customer the minimum price according to the price list for unrealized transport. 

Can items be returned to a different address than the one they were picked up from? 

  • Yes, the return address can be different from the pickup address. When ordering items back through the app, you can choose a delivery address that differs from the original pickup location. 


Is the warehouse safe? 

  • The warehouse is safe and controlled. The warehouse is not accessible to anyone other than Posti personnel. 

What can I store? 

  • You can store ordinary household things in the warehouse. Small and medium-sized items are stored in the moving boxes provided to you by the service, and larger items, such as furniture, are stored separately.  

What can't I store? 

The following are prohibited from the service:  

  • Car tires  

  • Objects that cause danger to the handler of the items 

  • Substances and objects that cause damage to the environment, the warehouse or other stored property   - e.g. goods containing mold, pest insects or other similar harmful substances 

  • Highly flammable substances and batteries  - e.g. petrol, propane, aerosols, solvents, paints, car and electric bicycle batteries  

  • Explosives, weapons and firearm accessories   - e.g. fireworks, gunpowder, weapons, cartridges, dynamite  

  • Toxic and hazardous chemicals   - e.g. pesticides, acidic/soluble substances, radioactive materials  

  • Substances and items that are illegal and subject to a permit   - e.g. drugs, stolen property, prescription medications 

  • Food items and perishable products   - e.g. fresh or frozen food, beverages, products of animal origin  

  • Living or dead biological material   - e.g. animals, plants, insects and their remains  

  • Cash, jewels and precious metals   - e.g. banknotes, coins, gold bars, diamonds, valuable jewelry  

  • Valuable or irreplaceable documents and items   - e.g. passports, wills, securities, valuable works of art, coin and stamp collections 

 Is the warehouse heated? 

  • The warehouse is heated and designed for long-term storage. 

Can I visit the warehouse? 

  • For security reasons, only Posti employees are allowed to visit the warehouse. This also means that your things are safe.  


How do I download the application? 

  • Instructions for downloading the application will be sent to the selected customers for the trial via email. 

How do I know what I have in storage? 

  • In the Remote Home Storage – application you have a list and photos of your stored items. You can also add descriptions of your things to the application.  

Is the application the same as OmaPosti? 

  • The Remote Home Storage application is a separate application for the time being. The account credentials for Remote Home Storage are separate from OmaPosti. 


Is the trial subject to a charge? 

  • In order to measure genuine interest in the service, the trial is subject to a charge.  

During the trial period, the price of the service is EUR 29.90/ m3/month for storage and EUR 19.90/m3 for transport.  

How will the service be charged? 

  • The service can be paid for either with an invoice or with the most common payment cards in Finland. The card payments are handled conveniently through the application. 

How does the pricing work? 

  • The price of the service is determined on the basis of the volume of goods stored in accordance with the price list. This means you only pay for the space you use. With a fixed-term contract, you get a discount on the price of the service. A fixed-term contract locks the minimum price of the service for the duration of the contract period. 

Does the service include insurance? 

  • Most Finnish home insurances also cover temporary warehousing in an external warehouse. In order to use the service, you must ensure that your insurance covers the temporary storage of goods outside your home.  


Can I use my own moving boxes? 

  • The boxes used in the service are included in the price. You can only use the service’s own boxes. When you start using the service, we will deliver the number of boxes you ordered. This increases the safety of your goods during transport and storage.  

How should I pack my goods? 

  • When you start using the service, you will receive comprehensive instructions and the necessary materials for packing. The customer is responsible for packing the goods sufficiently.  


Terms of the Posti Remote Home Storage -50% Discount Campaign

Campaign period: 1 November–31 December 2025. Normal pricing will apply from 1 January 2026.

New customers can activate the discount by entering the campaign code ETAVARASTO2025 on the summary page in the app during the order process.

Existing customers who are already using the service when the campaign begins will receive the discount automatically. A 50% reduction will be applied to invoices for November and December without any action required.

The discount applies to all storage within the Remote Home Storage pilot during the campaign period.

The discount applies only to transport volumes under 10 m³. Any volume exceeding this will be charged according to the regular price list.

Minimum prices for the service still apply during the campaign.
