1. Scope of application and validity
These terms of use apply to the consumer storage service “Posti Remote Home Storage”, provided by Posti 3PL Contract Logistics Oy (Business ID 3121167-9, hereinafter referred to as “Posti”) and produced jointly with Posti Oy. The Service includes the transport and storage of goods owned by the consumer customer (“the Customer”) at Posti’s warehouse, as well as the delivery of packaging materials to the Customer. The Service may also include additional services provided by third parties, such as recycling, resale and repair services for goods, which are agreed separately.
The Customer can order the Service as a service valid until further notice or as a fixed-term service.
The Service is available in the postal code areas of Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo and Kauniainen, excluding postal codes 00860 and 00190. Pickup and return of goods can only be carried out at addresses located within the Service area.
2. Use of the service
A contract for the Service is concluded when the Customer orders the Service online or through the mobile application. The contract includes these terms of use and Posti’s instructions for using the Service. The Customer must be a natural person who is at least 18 years old. The Service is used through digital channels. Use of the Service requires a user account for electronic consumer services provided by Posti Oy. The processing of personal data is described separately in the privacy statement for Posti’s electronic consumer services.
The Customer has the right to cancel an order in accordance with the provisions on distance selling in the Consumer Protection Act by informing Posti within fourteen (14) days of placing the order. If part of the Service has already been carried out at the time of cancellation, the applicable fees for the services already provided will be charged in accordance with the price list.
3. Service content
The Service includes the delivery of packing materials to the Customer, the collection of the Customer’s items from an agreed location within the Service Area and their transportation to Posti’s storage facility, the storage of the items, and their transportation from the storage facility to the Customer within the Service Area.
3.1. Packing
Posti will provide the Customer with packaging materials that are deemed sufficient for the safe packing of the goods indicated in the application. Packaging materials may include, for example, cardboard boxes and stretch film. The Customer is responsible for packing the goods in accordance with Posti’s instructions. Posti shall not compensate for damage caused to goods that have been incorrectly, inadequately or otherwise packed contrary to Posti’s instructions. Posti has the right to refuse to accept goods that have been incorrectly, inadequately or otherwise packed contrary to Posti’s instructions. If the packaging materials provided by Posti are insufficient for the safe packing of the Customer’s goods, or if packing the goods requires other types of materials, the Customer is responsible for obtaining and paying for any additional materials required.
The packaging materials provided by Posti as part of the Service are intended for use with the Service. If the Customer cancels the contract after the packaging materials have been delivered or does not order transport within three (3) weeks of the delivery of the materials, a fee will be charged for the packaging materials in accordance with the Service’s price list.
Only boxes provided by Posti may be used in the Service, except where the packaging instructions specifically allow other boxes. The weight of a single stored box must not exceed 25 kg. Goods other than those packed in cardboard boxes, such as furniture and bicycles, must also be packed in such a way that they can withstand transport. Fragile or otherwise sensitive items must also be marked in accordance with the packaging instructions.
3.2. Transport
The Customer may order transport for the desired day and a specific time slot, subject to availability in the booking calendar. Changes to or cancellations of transport may be made no later than two business days before the start of the selected time slot. Changes or cancellations made less than two business days before the start of the selected time slot will be subject to a fee in accordance with the price list.
The Customer or the Customer’s representative must be present at the agreed pickup and return time. If neither the Customer nor the Customer’s representative is present, or if the transport cannot be carried out for another reason attributable to the Customer, Posti has the right to charge the Customer the applicable price for the unrealized transport in accordance with the price list.
3.3. Storage
Posti stores the items in heated and monitored storage facilities, the conditions of which do not correspond to those of residential premises. The Customer is responsible for ensuring that the items to be stored are suitable, by their nature, for storage in a heated, dry storage facility. The Customer understands that items belonging to other customers are also stored in the same storage facility and may affect the indoor air quality of the storage facility.
Access to the storage facility is restricted to Posti personnel and Posti’s subcontractors. Customers of the Service do not have access to the storage facility. Through the Service, the Customer may order items to be transported back to them.
3.4. Additional services
Posti may offer additional services for stored goods, such as recycling. Additional services are provided through Posti’s partners and are agreed separately.
4. Prohibited goods
The storage of following goods is prohibited
Car tires
Objects that pose a danger to persons handling the goods
Substances and objects that may cause damage to the environment, the warehouse or other stored property e.g. goods containing mold, pest insects or other similar harmful substances

Explosives, weapons and firearm accessories e.g. fireworks, gunpowder, weapons, cartridges and dynamite
Toxic and hazardous chemicals e.g. pesticides, acidic or solvent substances and radioactive materials
Illegal substances and items, and substances and items subject to a permit e.g. drugs, stolen property and prescription medications

Particularly sensitive electronic devices that are difficult to transport e.g. televisions larger than 50 inches without their original packaging
Valuable or irreplaceable documents and items e.g. passports, wills, securities, valuable works of art and collectibles, and coin and stamp collections
The storage of other hazardous substances and products subject to official supervision or authorization, as well as goods sensitive to fluctuations in temperature and humidity, is also prohibited.
The Customer is responsible for ensuring that no prohibited goods are delivered to the warehouse. If Posti suspects that the goods contain prohibited substances or items, Posti has the right to open the packaging. Posti will comply with any orders issued by the authorities concerning the stored goods. Posti reserves the right to return, destroy or otherwise dispose of prohibited goods at the Customer’s expense.
5. Prices and payment
The prices of the Service are determined based on the volume of the goods to be stored, in accordance with a separate price list. Packaging materials are included in the price of storage. The application calculates an estimated price for the Customer when the goods to be stored are entered in the application. The final price is based on the storage volume of the goods as determined by Posti.
The prices include VAT. Any additional services are agreed separately in advance and charged separately.
Posti reserves the right to change its pricing. Changes to prices will be notified no later than thirty (30) days before they enter into force. However, if offered the prices of fixed-term contracts will remain unchanged throughout the contract period.
Transport and storage are invoiced monthly after the end of each calendar month, based on the actual transport and storage volume, calculated to the exact day. The accepted payment methods are the commonly used payment methods supported by the payment service provider used for the Service. The term of payment is fourteen (14) days from the invoice date.
Posti will charge penalty interest on late payments pursuant to the Interest Act, as well as any payment reminder and collection costs. Posti may refer an overdue payment to a debt collection agency unless the unpaid invoice has previously been disputed on justified grounds.
When paying for the Service, the Customer uses payment services provided by third parties in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions and policies of such third parties. In order to use third-party services, the Customer must enter into a separate agreement with the third party in question, either through Posti’s application or directly with the third party. Posti shall in no way be responsible or liable for such third-party services. By using such third-party services, the Customer accepts and acknowledges that Posti may disclose information concerning the Customer that is necessary for entering into and performing the agreement to the third party in question.
6. Claims
Claims concerning the Service and invoices must be submitted in writing to Posti Customer Service. The claim must include the information necessary to investigate the matter. Claims must be submitted within a reasonable time after the Customer has noticed, or should have noticed, any damage to, delay of or loss of the goods, or any error in the invoice.
7. Confidentiality
Posti keeps the Customer’s information confidential. Posti may disclose Customer information necessary for the provision of the Service within Posti Group Corporation and to its subcontractors. Posti is responsible for ensuring that the information remains confidential.
8. Posti’s liability
Posti is responsible for ensuring that it complies with applicable legislation and exercises due care when providing the Service. Posti’s liability begins when it has accepted the Customer’s goods for transport for the purpose of storage and inspected the packaging of the goods without comments. Posti will inform the Customer without delay upon becoming aware of any damage to or loss of the goods occurring during transport or storage.
Posti is liable only for damage resulting from Posti’s negligence, error or omission. Posti is liable for damage to the goods only if the damage can be established to have been caused by an external impact, collision or other similar externally verifiable event.
Posti is not liable for circumstances that it could not have avoided or the consequences of which it could not have prevented, including fire, water damage or damage caused by a third party through a criminal act or otherwise. Posti is not liable for damage to prohibited goods or their disposal; acts, errors or omissions by the Customer or a third party; inadequate packaging of the goods; incorrect or incomplete labelling; or the goods’ particular susceptibility to damage or environmental conditions.
Posti’s liability for damage to or loss of goods for which Posti is liable is limited to the current value of the damaged or lost goods, but in any event to a maximum of EUR 5,000 per cubic metre of stored goods and EUR 1,000 for a stored item. Posti is not liable for indirect or consequential losses or losses incurred by third parties. These limitations of liability do not apply to losses caused intentionally or through gross negligence and do not limit the Customer’s statutory rights. Posti is not liable for any damage that is compensated, or would be compensable, under the Customer’s home insurance.
9. Customer’s responsibilities
The Customer must comply with these terms of use and Posti’s instructions, be present at the agreed pickup and return times, and provide correct and sufficient information about the goods to be stored as well as any other necessary information requested by Posti. The Customer must also update their contact details with Posti whenever they change to ensure that the Customer receives notifications and other communications concerning the Service from Posti.
The Customer is liable for any damage caused to Posti or other customers, in particular damage caused by prohibited goods included in the Service in violation of these terms of use.
The Customer undertakes to seek compensation for damage related to the Service primarily from the insurance company that issued the Customer’s home insurance policy.
10. Digital channels of the service
Remote Home Storage can be used through the Service website or mobile application. Posti reserves the right to modify and update the Service’s digital channels. Posti is not liable for any damage or delays caused by the unavailability of or deficiencies in the digital channels.
11. Terms and Termination of the Agreement
The Customer may order the Service either for an indefinite term or if Posti offers fixed term contracts, for a fixed term. An agreement concluded for an indefinite term enters into force when the Service is ordered and remains in force until further notice. Posti may terminate an agreement concluded for an indefinite term by giving 60 days’ notice, in which case the Customer is required to order, through the application, the return of all stored items no later than the last day of the notice period. The Customer may terminate an agreement concluded for an indefinite term at any time by ordering all stored items to be returned to the Customer. In such cases, the agreement and the obligation to pay the storage fee terminate on the date on which the items are delivered into the Customer’s possession. Where the storage period is less than one month, the minimum charge for the Service is an amount equivalent to one month of storage.
If Posti offers a fixed-term agreement, the fixed-term agreement enters into force when the Service is ordered and remains in force until the end of the agreed fixed term, unless Posti or the Customer terminates the agreement on the grounds specified below. If the Customer orders all stored items to be returned before the end of the fixed-term agreement, the obligation to pay the storage fee continues after the items have been returned until the end of the term of the agreement, in accordance with the charges set out in the agreement.
12. Cancellation of the contract
The Customer has the right to cancel the contract with immediate effect if Posti commits a material breach of its obligations under the contract.
Posti has the right to cancel the contract with immediate effect if, when using the Service, the Customer violates these terms of use, applicable law or good practice, for example by storing prohibited goods or failing to pay an invoice despite a payment reminder.
In the event of cancellation of the contract, Posti and the Customer will aim to agree without delay on the transport of the goods to the Customer, without prejudice to Posti’s right to dispose of the goods pursuant to Section 12.
13. Other terms and conditions
Posti has a lien and right of retention over the Customer’s goods stored in the warehouse as security for all amounts due to Posti under the contract. If an amount due to Posti remains unpaid for 60 days after its due date, Posti has the right to cancel the contract with immediate effect and, without a court order, realize the goods in the manner it considers appropriate to the extent necessary to cover the costs incurred and the total amount due to Posti. If the goods cannot be sold and an overdue payment remains unpaid for 60 days after its due date despite a payment reminder, Posti has the right to dispose of the goods subject to the lien. Posti also has the right to realize the goods after the contract has ended if the transport of the goods cannot be agreed upon and carried out with the Customer within 60 days due to circumstances attributable to the Customer.
Posti will pay the Customer any surplus proceeds remaining from the realization of the goods after deducting the costs incurred in connection with the realization and all amounts due to Posti. The Customer acknowledges that the price obtained from the realization of the goods may be lower than their fair market value. The difference between the realization price and the fair market value of the goods does not, in itself, constitute grounds for compensation, unless otherwise required by mandatory legislation.
Posti reserves the right to transfer the contract to another company within the Posti Group or to a third party in connection with a transfer of business. Posti has the right to use subcontractors in the provision of the Service under the contract.
All rights, including ownership rights, copyrights and other intellectual property rights, to the Service and the application remain with Posti or its licensors.
Posti shall be released from its contractual obligations and liability for damages in the event of force majeure, including strikes, lockouts, other industrial action, fire, accidents, measures by public authorities and other circumstances that Posti could not reasonably have avoided and whose consequences Posti could not reasonably have prevented. Posti will use its best efforts to provide the services under the contract also under such exceptional circumstances.
14. Applicable law and legal remedies
The Service and the contract are governed by Finnish law. Disputes concerning the contract or liability for damages will be resolved by the District Court of Helsinki or, at the Customer’s request, by the district court of the Customer’s domicile. The Customer also has the right to refer the dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board, whose decisions are recommendations (www.kuluttajariita.fi). Before referring the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board, the Customer must contact the Consumer Advisory Services.
