Cookies

When you use our online services, we may collect information about you using cookies and other data collection methods. We refer to these collectively as cookies. Cookies are small files stored on your device. They collect certain information such as browser type, language preferences, usage times, and the address of the website you came from. Cookies may also store information about the pages you visit, the links you click, and how you use our service.

The data we collect depends on the consents you have given. If you consent to the use of certain cookies, you grant us permission to collect information as defined by these technologies. However, you cannot opt out of cookies that are essential for the service to function properly. When using our services while logged in, the data collected via cookies may be linked to your customer relationship in our electronic consumer services (Posti user account), and will then be processed in accordance with the privacy statement for electronic consumer services.

You can manage and limit the data collected at any time by adjusting your consent settings. More detailed information about what data is collected under each consent category can be found further down this page. Please note that your consent is voluntary, and you may withdraw or change it at any time. This will affect the kind of data we collect moving forward.

How do we use these methods?

We use cookies for a variety of purposes, such as:

  • developing and improving our services

  • displaying different types of content and functionalities in our online services

  • analyzing and reporting on the use of our services

  • targeting marketing efforts and advertisements.

Cookies enable the smooth and efficient use of our online services. For example, they help remember information such as the contents of your shopping cart or your password, so you don’t have to re-enter them every time you visit. They also enable the display of targeted advertising and content, improving your user experience.

The storage duration of cookies varies depending on their type and purpose. For instance, your cookie consent choice is stored for 12 months.

What are other similar data collection methods?

Other data collection methods include, for example:

  • So-called web beacons: Small snippets of code that can collect information about how you use a webpage. Web beacons are also known as “tracking pixels” or trackers.

  • Log files: Collect information related to website usage, such as your IP address and browser type.

  • Local storage: Enables data to be stored on your device for a longer period, which can improve the performance and speed of the site.

  • Mobile advertising identifiers: Identifiers such as IDFA (iOS) and AdID (Android) are linked to mobile devices and function similarly to browser cookies.

Cookies are categorized into different types, and their purposes are described in the table below.

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be disabled. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as setting cookie preferences, logging in, or filling in forms.

Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how you use our website so that we can measure and improve its performance.

Functional cookies

These cookies enable additional features and personalization, such as videos or live chat. These cookies are set by us or by third-party service providers whose services we have added to our website.

Marketing cookies

These cookies help us show you content and advertising based on your interests and the services you use. If you do not allow these cookies, you will still see content and ads, but they will be less tailored to you.

Marketing cookies are used by both Posti and our partners. Some of these partners act as joint controllers with Posti, meaning both parties share responsibility for processing personal data. Others act as independent controllers, managing their own data processing separately.

Posti and Adform A/S are joint controllers with regard to ID-based identifiers. This information is a random string of numbers used to identify your browser or device and to deliver targeted advertising on websites outside Posti. Adform uses this data to provide and develop targeting services for Posti. Additionally, Adform acts as an independent controller for purposes such as fraud prevention and statistical analysis. Adform does not link the data directly to an individual.

More information on Adform’s privacy practices is available on their website.

Our website also uses third-party cookies and pixels for functional and marketing purposes. These collect information about how users navigate the site and respond to advertisements. This data may be used to:

  • target advertising based on interests

  • measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns

  • retarget advertising on other websites

  • display embedded videos on the site.

These partners may act either as joint controllers with Posti or as independent controllers, in which case they process data in accordance with their own privacy statements.

More information about their privacy practices is available directly from each provider:
