Where can I get the red Christmas envelope?

The red mailing envelope will be delivered directly to your home. If you have an advertising ban notice on your mail slot, we can’t deliver the envelope. You can also pick up red envelopes from all Posti outlets.

Do I have to send my cards in the red envelope?

No, you don’t. However, we recommend using the envelope as it gets your cards into Christmas card sorting quicker.

Where can I drop off my Christmas cards and the red envelope?

You can drop off Christmas cards equipped with a no-value indicator stamp for Christmas greetings (snowflake symbol) or a €1.70 stamp at any mailbox. The color of the box doesn’t matter! Check the locations of mailboxes and Posti outlets here.

If I mail my Christmas cards, say, today in the red mailing envelope, when will they be delivered to the recipients?

We will start delivering cards mailed in the red envelopes at the beginning of December.

You can also buy stamps almost anywhere: in addition to postal outlets, stamps are available, for instance, at kiosks, grocery stores, bookstores and service stations.

Mail Christmas cards within Finland more affordably with a no-value indicator stamp for Christmas greetings by Thursday, December 11, at 11:59 p.m., at the latest. You can recognize the stamps from the snowflake symbol.

Don’t worry if December 11 came and went. Mail Christmas cards with a domestic no-value indicator stamp by December 16. You can recognize these stamps from the map of Finland symbol.

Send all cards abroad using international no-value indicator stamps. You can recognize them by the globe symbol.

You can also use similar no-value indicator stamps from previous Christmases as they remain valid!

Can I use other stamps?

Of course! Old 1st and 2nd class no-value indicator stamps are still valid. Their value corresponds to the domestic no-value indicator stamp, EUR 2.75. You can also use Christmas stamps with a euro value, just remember to check that their value correspond with the current values (EUR 1.70 or EUR 2.75 and EUR 3.05 for abroad). Unfortunately, old stamps valued in the Finnish Mark are no longer valid.

You can send money, securities and other valuables only as Posti Insured items, not in a regular letter. The insurance covers only actual and substantiated damage in accordance with insured value.

Tip! Send money as a regular bank transfer and send a traditional Christmas card to notify the recipient of the money. What a Christmas surprise!

You can send small goods in a letter but remember to pack them well. However, hard goods cannot be sent in a regular envelope because sharp edges break the envelope easily, which may result in the goods falling out and disappearing. Send small goods in a bubble wrap envelope, for example, and preferably as a trackable item. You can send an Small parcel in cardboard packaging or a mailing bag. You can buy these at Posti outlets and department stores.

Did you make it all by yourself? That’s great! You can mail home-made, foldable and irregularly shaped cards in an envelope. You can also enclose cards decorated with a ribbon, decorative studs or glitter in an envelope. The cost is the same whether you use an envelope or not.

Write the recipient’s name and address in the bottom right-hand corner. Add your details in the top left-hand corner. Wait – does the recipient live abroad? The customs of the country of destination dictate how you should write the recipient’s address. Just remember to always write the country name in CAPITAL LETTERS.

Yes, you can, and you won’t need any additional stamps. This also applies to cards with international destinations.

We use codes in items to improve the quality of delivery. Codes help make sorting faster and more reliable. If the item is missing a code, we will print for the item a code sticker that helps us make sure that the recipient’s address is up to date. At the same time, we check for any address changes before delivery.
