What home delivery options does Posti offer? 

Our home delivery options for private customers include:  

  • Small parcel to door or mailbox

  • Posti's home delivery at an agreed time (sometimes also called Home parcel)  

The Small parcel to door is a more affordable option for situations where you don’t need to know the exact delivery time in advance. Choose home delivery at an agreed time when you want to select the delivery time yourself.

In some online stores, you can also choose Posti's Express Parcel to your door. It is best suited for businesses, as it is delivered during the daytime (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) without prior notice or contact. 

How it works: Small parcel to door or mailbox 

Small parcel to door is Posti's newer and more affordable home delivery service, where your parcel is delivered to your door or mailbox without the need to wait at home. The maximum dimensions for a Small parcel to door are 38 x 38 x 28 cm/ 4 kg.

If the parcel doesn’t fit in the mailbox and you’re not home when the mail carrier arrives, they will leave the parcel at your door. The parcel will be protected from rain if necessary.

The parcel actively informs you of its arrival. You will receive the first notification when the parcel is being dispatched from the online store. On the morning of the delivery day, you’ll get a message that the parcel will arrive during the day. You will also be notified when and where the parcel has been delivered. 

The delivery time is 2–5 business days from dispatch. You can track the parcel's arrival via the OmaPosti app. 

How it works: home delivery at an agreed time 

This is a home delivery option where you can choose the delivery date and time from several options. You will be asked to select a delivery time after the parcel has been in transit for 1–2 business days. At the same time, you can choose whether to receive the parcel face-to-face or have it left at your door. 

The delivery time can be selected within approximately 4-hour time slots, which are available on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. In the busiest areas, home deliveries are also available on Saturdays. 

You will receive notifications on your phone or by email as the chosen delivery time approaches. You can track the parcel’s arrival via the OmaPosti app.  

In the biggest cities, you can see the driver approaching on the map for the last 20 minutes. These include the Helsinki metropolitan area, Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä, and Kuopio.

Home delivery additional services

Carried in

You can purchase the Carried in service as an additional option for your delivery (maximum delivery weight 85 kg). The driver and an assistant will carry the item you ordered inside your apartment. You can choose the exact location, as long as there is free access to it. Note! Remember to protect the floor surfaces along the entire carrying route. Drivers wear protective shoes indoors as well.

Removal and recycling

Have you ordered, for example, a new piece of furniture or a new appliance to replace an old one? We will deliver your new product safely to its destination and take your old product away for recycling on your behalf.

Unpackaging

We will unpack the product you ordered from the outer packaging after carrying it inside. We remove all packaging material and recycle it for you.

If we’re unable to get hold of you and deliver the item to your home, we will take the item to the nearest pickup location for pickup. We will notify you of this via OmaPosti, SMS or email.

If we’re unable to deliver your parcel to a pickup location or process it there due to its weight or size, we will call you to arrange a new delivery time window.  


If the delivery method is Small Parcel, it may have been placed in your mailbox. Please check there first!

Otherwise, please contact our customer service and we’ll figure out where your parcel is. 


Don’t worry, the delivery time inquiry has two other options for these situations: 

You can choose for the item to be delivered to a Posti outlet or a Posti Parcel Locker. 

You can ask the driver to leave the item on your doorstep without a delivery confirmation.


If you have chosen the delivery option 'Small parcel to door' and you are not at home when the parcel arrives, the mail carrier will leave it at your door or in your mailbox. The parcel will be protected from rain if necessary.

If you are expecting a larger parcel, no problem – contact our customer service to cancel the delivery time and schedule a new one.


You can provide your door code in the item details in the OmaPosti app. If you don’t use OmaPosti, you can include your door code in the delivery time inquiry. The link for the inquiry is delivered as an SMS or by email. The inquiry includes a field to provide the door code and other necessary information. 

If you’ve already provided your door code, you don’t need to do it a second time even if it says so in the message you received. 

Note! Some online stores (such as Amazon Germany) prefer so-called Express parcels delivered on weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. For a parcel like this, you can’t select the delivery time, which means that, unfortunately, you can’t let us know your door code either.


Yes – if you can select a delivery time for your home delivery, you can also choose to have the item left on your doorstep without signing for it.  

You can choose this in the OmaPosti app. If you don’t use it, you can make the same choice in the delivery time inquiry. The link for the inquiry is delivered via SMS or email. 

Please note the following exceptions: 

Some online stores use so-called Express parcels, which are delivered on weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm without selecting a delivery time. In this case, you can’t choose to have your item left on your doorstep. A good example of this is orders from Amazon Germany.     There are also items the driver is not allowed to hand over until the recipient’s identity has been confirmed. These include registered items, which cannot be left on your doorstep without delivery confirmation.

If you can order home delivery afterwards, you will see the “Switch to home delivery” option in the parcel’s (or trackable letter’s) information in the OmaPosti app. Whether you are still able to order home delivery or not depends on factors such as the stage of the item’s journey.

You can order home delivery for a parcel as long as the sender hasn’t yet handed the parcel over to Posti to be delivered. 

You can only order home delivery for a registered letter or express letter when the item is waiting for pickup on a shelf at the Posti outlet.
