Posti will receive information from Customs, if an item for a private person has not been subject to tax. Your item will be released within one day of the customs clearance. A separate handling fee exemption request is not needed. If you have done the import declaration as a business customer, Posti will not receive the information from Customs automatically. If the item has not been subject to tax, please fill out a request for handling fee exemption. If you paid Posti’s handling fee before you got the confirmation that your item was not subject to tax, you can make a request for a refund of the handling fee.
“Exemption from the handling fee” if you have received a customs clearance decision from Finnish Customs stating that you do not need to pay taxes on the item, and you have not yet paid the handling fee.
“Refund of the handling fee” if you already paid the handling fee before you were informed that you do not need to pay taxes on the item. Please attach the customs clearance decision you received to the request.
