This fall’s postage stamps feature trendy hobbies, sunshine and national landscapes. In November Fingerpori comics will also be found featured on stamps.
Posti will issue six new stamp publications with a total of 21 different designs in the second half of 2024. The stamps to be published on 11 September showcase modern hobbies, the glow of the morning sun and national landscapes. The themes of the stamps to be published on 6 November are Fingerpori and Christmas.
Five hobbies, two sunrises and seven national landscapes
Hobbies change with the times. September's stamps, designed by Klaus Welp, showcase five newer hobbies that are growing in popularity. The themes of the stamps are disc golf, hiking in national parks, hobby horsing, wall climbing and postcrossing. Modern Hobbies is a 10-stamp sheet containing five different domestic no-value indicator stamp designs.
Jukka Risikko photographed the stamp designs that feature the first rays of morning sunlight. The stamps feature tussock cottongrass on the edge of a bog in Alajoki, Lapua, and a lakeside landscape in Orisberg, Isonkyrö. The graphic design of the stamps is by Stiina Hovi. The Glow of the Sun is a 10-stamp sheet containing two different international no-value indicator stamp designs.
The second part of the popular National Landscapes roll of stamps series will be issued in September. The stamps designed by Stiina Hovi feature both natural landscapes and cityscapes. The themes of the stamps are Old Porvoo, Punkaharju, the Aura River Valley, Aavasaksa, Hailuoto, the Utsjoki Valley and the Vanajavesi Valley. National Landscapes II will be issued as a 100-stamp roll that contains seven different domestic no-value indicator stamp designs.
Celebrate Fingerpori’s stamp debut and feel the magic of Christmas
In November, the familiar characters from Pertti Jarla's Fingerpori comics will also be found featured on stamps. We will introduce the Fingerpori stamps in more detail closer to their publication. Fingerpori is a 10-stamp sheet containing five different domestic no-value indicator stamp designs.
This year, the stamps illustrated by Hanna-Maria Mainelakeus feature the bright colors of the Northern Lights, Christmas trees and reindeer. The graphic design of the stamps is by Paula Salviander. The no-value indicator stamp for Christmas greetings Christmas Miracle will be issued as a 20-stamp sheet and the domestic non-value indicator stamp Christmas Path will be issued as a 10-stamp sheet.
