Photographer Ilona Pietiläinen has designed flower-themed postage stamps that are perfect for your Valentine’s Day cards or other greeting cards.
“Flowers will make anyone’s day better, and it was a pleasure to photograph such a wide range of flowers for the stamps. The stamp design process with its different stages was an interesting new experience,” says Ilona.
Ilona Pietiläinen has published nearly 30 photo books, taken photos for lifestyle magazines and worked for a long time as, for example, a card artist for Karto.
“My main job at the moment is taking photographs related to interior design, housing and lifestyle for magazines. I live in Central Finland in Äänekoski, so it’s easy for me to get to photography gigs all over Finland,” says Ilona.
In her books, she highlights topics related to interior design, food and other aspects of life.
“My books are like storybooks for grownups to immerse themselves in. I want to photograph the life around me. Capturing memorable moments is a wonderful feeling.”
You can admire Ilona’s stories on her Instagram account Valkoinen puutalokoti, where she posts photos every day. Many of them were taken in her own home.
Flowers are an important decorative element for Ilona.
“I need to have flowers around every day. They’re also an important part of the photos I take, so I usually bring flowers with me to the shoot,” she says.
Ilona absolutely loves Valentine’s Day.
“Behind Valentine’s Day is a beautiful and genuine idea. I wouldn’t mind if we celebrated Valentine’s Day every day of the year. Even in everyday situations, it’s worth telling and showing a friend that they matter to you. Nothing beats getting a handwritten postcard or letter.”
The Blossoming Friendship stamp sheet’s ten stamps contain five different domestic no-value indicator stamp designs. The graphic design of the stamps was done by Paula Salviander.
