We will focus on parcel lockers that everyone can use – private parcel lockers to be gradually removed

3/12/2024

We are developing our service point network and as part of this development, we will gradually stop using Posti’s private parcel lockers. Private parcel lockers can be found in places with limited access, like the shared areas of apartment buildings.

“Going forward, we will concentrate on developing and expanding our public service point network that all customers can use. The use rate of private parcel lockers has remained low and according to feedback, they have not fulfilled all user needs,” says Juuso Kutila who oversees the operations of Posti’s service point network.

Private parcel lockers will be removed in stages. We will agree on the specific schedule with housing companies and other companies using the lockers. Users will receive more information on when their locker will be closed.

Parcel lockers serve on errand routes across Finland

Posti’s service point network is the largest of its industry in Finland and consists of approximately 1,000 service points and 2,200 parcel lockers. Most customers visit us to pick up parcels, and parcel lockers are the most popular delivery option.

We are expanding popular parcel lockers and opening new ones both indoors and outdoors, so as many people as possible can get their parcel as close to home as possible. For example, last year we added around 3,500 individual lockers to existing parcel lockers.

“We are constantly following demand and developing our service point network according to it. Outdoor parcel lockers offer us new opportunities: we can bring them to places that do not have room indoors for a parcel locker. We are also happy to discuss outdoor lockers with any interested housing companies,” Juuso Kutila says.
