The Finnish Post and Logistics Union PAU's illegal industrial actions are still ongoing at Posti's sorting locations in Vantaa, Lieto, Seinäjoki, Jyväskylä, Lahti, Lappeenranta, Kuopio, Tampere and Oulu. Despite the strikes, nearly all parcels and other items have been processed and delivery is working.
"Our exceptional arrangements have worked well and, at the moment, nearly all items have been delivered or are on their way to their recipients. A very small part of parcels, letters and publications may experience a one-day delay. We will do everything we can to avoid delays and any harm to our customers," says Jarmo Ainasoja, Head of Control Center at Posti.
"Our exceptional arrangements may cause atypical tracking details for some items even if the item is being transported according to the promised schedule," says Jarmo Ainasoja.
The strikes will not have any effect on the early-morning delivery of newspapers. Posti's service points are not part of the strike, either. Freight or warehousing services will not be affected by the industrial action.
PAU has announced that the strikes will continue.
PAU has announced that strike action will also take place tomorrow, Wednesday. According to the current estimate, the strikes could, if carried out, complicate some deliveries in different parts of Finland.
"We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide regular updates as the estimates become more precise. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that our services will not be interrupted or otherwise affected by this-the extent of the disruptions depends on how many employees participate in the strike," Jarmo Ainasoja continues.
The next update on the situation will be published on Wednesday, September 4, at approximately 11:30 a.m.
