Posti is the market leader in warehousing services in Finland, managing more than 400,000 pallet positions around the country. The extensive warehouse network consists of several units specialized in serving different customer needs, and these warehouses together form an efficient and flexible entity that extensively covers the needs of Finnish logistics. The new warehouse in Järvenpää complements this entity and provides solutions on a new scale.
The Järvenpää warehouse provides customers with:
Modern and sustainable facilities, zero emissions and energy efficiency
Digitally controlled and efficient production
Fast deliveries to consumers – especially in e-commerce
The opportunity to make use of value-added services, such as packaging and assembly services
Security for growth: large premises and the opportunity to grow with the premises

This is not just about new premises—it is about the development of the entire supply chain to the next level. Sustainability and efficiency go hand in hand. The first phase of the new large warehouse was completed in spring 2025, in a central location along good transport connections. The project was launched as a response to the growth of e-commerce and the need of companies for flexible, scalable and sustainable logistics solutions. The first phase covers more than 35,000 square meters and 70,000 pallet positions.
Facility solutions for customer needs
Posti’s new logistics center offers customers an excellent location that enables the management of decentralized flows of goods, as well as flexible services that support challenges related to seasonal fluctuations in particular—especially for operators who may have difficulties in recruitment during peak seasons.
The Järvenpää warehouse is designed to serve the growth needs of customers and operate as part of the entire logistics value chain. Posti has decades of experience in successful logistics transfers and clear project management models that enable the moving process to be carried out in a controlled and efficient manner—a team of experts supports the customer from the start.
Järvenpää meets our customers’ growth needs and we aim to serve the customer’s entire logistics value chain.
Antti Wikström, Vice President, Contract Logistics at Posti
In the first phase, smaller leased storage units will be abandoned and operations will be concentrated in a larger unit. The Järvenpää warehouse is a key solution in this development. And this is just the beginning: phase 1, which is currently being completed, may be continued, and this would make the area one of the largest logistics entities in Finland.
Sustainability as standard
At Posti, sustainability is not just an additional service—it is a built-in common practice.
All of Posti’s warehouses are zero-emission warehouses: they use geothermal heat, electricity produced with renewable energy and energy-efficient LED lighting. Wikström points out that sustainability also means financial and people responsibility for Posti, which is why special attention has been paid to safety at work already in the planning phase of the warehouse.
The Järvenpää warehouse is also aiming for BREEAM Excellent environmental certification, which demonstrates the high level of sustainable construction and operations. Customers can also use these certificates in their own sustainability reporting.
Towards smarter inventory control – the development work progresses in phases
Posti is running a development project that aims to renew inventory control with the help of the next-generation WMS system and related order management (OMS), reference data and production technology. The plan is to build a system-driven operating model in which digital tools support more accurate capacity planning, more efficient allocation of resources and better visibility across the supply chain.
The new system is intended to be deployed in phases, warehouse by warehouse, so that deployments can be carried out in a controlled manner and in cooperation with customers. The first phases are underway in Järvenpää, and the next steps will be planned on the basis of experiences.
The aim is to move from supervisor-led work to system-driven work, and this is the core of the entire digitalization process.
Antti Wikström, Vice President, Contract Logistics at Posti
At the core of the development work is customer focus: system reforms are carried out through close dialogue with customers to truly support their needs now and in the future. In the future, the new WMS system will also form the basis for the expansion of automation and intelligent inventory control.
Smoothness and transparency for the customer
Posti offers its customers the widest portfolio of logistics solutions on the market. Solutions are built around the customer’s business and needs—whether it’s warehousing, transport, parcel services, in-house logistics, supply chain management or value-added services. Scalable services enable an efficient response to fluctuations in demand, especially during peak seasons. Posti’s strong personnel resources and long experience ensure that the capacity is sufficient for both small and large operators.
The operations are fully transparent: customers have access to real-time indicators and reporting tools to monitor warehouse and supply chain efficiency. In addition, sustainability is built into the services—customers have access to solutions that support their own environmental goals.
The service portfolio includes several value-added services, such as the packaging of products, labeling and assembly of shop racks. At Posti, these are seen as basic everyday services that make the customer’s work easier and can significantly improve the efficiency of the supply chain.
The fast e-commerce deliveries control the rhythm of the entire warehouse—we collect orders as late into the day as possible so that they can be delivered the next day.
Antti Wikström, Vice President, Contract Logistics at Posti
The service levels are agreed in cooperation with the customer, and the service is designed to support both large and small customers and scales according to the business. The supply chain is transparent from start to finish—from making the order to the final delivery point.
"From the customer’s perspective, there is often concern about the smoothness of the change situation when outsourcing a warehouse. We have decades of experience in logistics transfer projects, clear project management models and our own experts focusing exclusively on these—that’s why we can ensure a controlled and reliable start," says Wikström.
Cornerstone of growth and development Logistics is an increasingly important engine of growth for Posti. In the midst of changes in letter and parcel volumes, the warehousing business supports the entire Group and offers customers solutions for managing the entire value chain.
We build solutions that give customers efficiency, sustainability and growth opportunities, regardless of the industry.
