Kempower and Posti strengthen their growing partnership across the logistics value chain

02/05/2025

Kempower, which designs fast charging solutions for electric vehicles, and Posti began a comprehensive logistics partnership in summer 2022. The collaboration started with packaging design and production and has since expanded to cover warehousing, dispatch, and transport services.

The partnership has brought Kempower measurable benefits: cost savings, improved efficiency, and a foundation for growth both in Finland and internationally. Some of Kempower’s in-house logistics operations have moved to Posti’s facilities, freeing up space for production expansion.

Summary highlights:

  • Posti’s flexible model supports Kempower’s international growth.

  • Posti handles Kempower’s entire in-house logistics from one logistics center: receiving materials, warehousing, internal transfers, feeding production, and dispatching finished products.

Packaging design that saves time and space

The collaboration began when Kempower needed a new packaging solution for one of its main products. The goal was to ease a bottleneck in the packing process and ensure safe delivery to customers worldwide.

“We designed and produced a high-quality parcel that made packing easier and improved safety. Its main job was to protect the product throughout its journey,” says Pekka Paavilainen, who manages the Kempower account at Posti.

The results were clear from day one. The new packaging saved cargo space and sped up the packing process significantly. Kempower also adopted the concept at its North American factory.

Warehousing and transport that support growth

As Kempower’s business grew in 2023, the partnership expanded to include more of Posti’s logistics services.

“We took over Kempower’s warehousing and dispatch operations at our Pennala facility, as well as transport between production and storage. It’s great that our scalable and flexible services can support Kempower’s growth journey,” Paavilainen says.

This year, all export packaging has been redesigned, and part of the final packaging work now takes place at Pennala. The location has played a key role in the expanding partnership. Kempower, based in Lahti, wants its growing business to support local employment.

Next up: a new high-power electric truck for transport between the factory and warehouse, and for component deliveries from suppliers.

“Working with Posti has been smooth. We solve things together, sometimes at a fast pace. We’re alike in how we move things forward and aren’t afraid to make decisions. We’ve especially appreciated Posti’s high delivery reliability and quality. I hope we keep working the same way in the future,” says Heidi Koljonen, Kempower’s Director of Logistics.
