A small number of consignments from outside the EU have been released for distribution without customs clearance - Posti corrects the error and contacts all those affected
Some of the consignments arriving to Finland from outside the EU have been erroneously released for distribution before the required customs declaration has been made. Normally, the consignee makes a customs declaration to Customs after Posti has notified the consignee of the arrival of the consignment.
During June, Posti will approach by letter all recipients of erroneously released items with a value of more than 22 euros. Consignments released for distribution must be cleared through customs afterwards if this has not been done before.
For these consignments, the recipient pays any normal duties and taxes. We will send the instructions for post-clearance directly to the recipients.
The items were released for distribution prematurely due to a system error in Posti's automated sorting line. We are sorry for the inconvenience we have caused. Errors identified in the sorting process have been corrected to prevent a similar event in the future.
