Cooperation with Authorities
Posti's Address Services cooperate with many different authorities. The most significant partners in the collection of address information are the Population Register Centre and local register offices. Through different channels, Posti produces statutory information about change of address notifications to the Population Information System for local register offices and the Population Register Centre.
Posti's operations are regulated by the Finnish Postal Act. Compliance with the Finnish Postal Act and the related regulations is monitored by the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority.
Change of address notification
When you make a change of address notification online, by telephone or with a form, you can at the same time submit the statutory change of address notification to the local register office. The taxation municipality, voting location and the entitlement to certain social security services, among other things, are determined on the basis of the notification. A change of address notification must always be submitted to the local register office when permanently moving from one apartment to another or when temporary residence at another address lasts for more than three months.
