Welcome to the Postal Museum
The Postal Museum is the only museum of its kind in Sweden.

The museum is situated in Stockholm's Old Town, in a beautiful cultural centre deriving its origin from the 1600s. Stockholm's only post-office was housed here until 1869.

The Postal Museum was opened in 1906. Only one room was used in the beginning, but the museum gradually took over the whole building. The building underwent considerable interior alterations in 1986 and 1999.

The Museum has two permanent exhibitions. One is historical, showing how the postal service has dealt with letters for more than 360 years, and one is philatelic and features stamps, postcards and stamp collecting.

Post F@ktum is the Museum's information centre, with library, databases, archive, Internet and multimedia. Both Swedish and Scandinavian stamp collections are exhibited here.

At the Little Post Office, a children's workshop, our younger visitors have an opportunity to create and have fun.
