Basic delivery on weekdays
Basic mail delivery is performed on business days (Mon–Fri) by 4 p.m. All letters and magazines of up to 25x40x3cm and 2kg, and the arrival notifications of items unsuitable for basic delivery, will be delivered by the aforementioned time."
The terms and conditions of basic delivery are included in the "Delivery Services" appendix of Itella Posti Oy's General Terms and Conditions.
Mail delivery is regulated by the Postal Act, and compliance with the Act is monitored by the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority.
Home delivery: It is necessary to quote the item code found on the notice of arrival if you wish to order a home delivery.
Nearby Mailbox at home: A standard delivery can be made to a letterbox, post box or other place not included on an ordinary delivery round. The service is subject to a charge and a separate contract. Service agreements can be made with individual recipients living in houses or with a housing association to apply to all its residents.
Nearby Mailbox at summer home: This service refers to the delivery of mail to an address other than the customer’s permanent address.
Read more about Nearby MailboxIf the mail recipient and Posti fail to reach a mutual understanding on the location of the mailbox, the recipient may request a resolution from the building supervision authority of the municipality. The resolution can be appealed to the region's Administrative Court and the decision by the Administrative Court can further be appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court.
In cases of dispute, Posti is entitled to interrupt mail delivery until the matter has been resolved by the force of law.
