Itella’s dedication to building the information society is bearing fruit
The number of users and messages in the Itella NetPosti service has increased enormously at the beginning of the year. The number of users registered in NetPosti has increased by 50 per cent from last year. Furthermore, the number of electronic letters in NetPosti has increased by 45 per cent from the same period last year. NetPosti believes that Itella's dedication to the building of the information society is producing results.
- When NetPosti was established in 2000, Itella saw that the world was increasingly moving towards electronic services. We were even ahead of our time. In the recent years, there have been significant developments in the service, and we have been actively involved in promoting the principles of the information society. This work produces agonizingly slow results, but we can be satisfied with the steps-or even leaps-forward that we have taken this year in the development of NetPosti, says Antero Sarèn, Senior Vice President in charge of the NetPosti service.
During the first quarter of 2010, more than one million e-letters were sent to NetPosti, and more than 150,000 new users registered for the service. An all-time record was made in March as the number of electronic letters in NetPosti exceeded the limit of 370,000 letters.
- The growth is based on a number of factors, such as the determined development of NetPosti and the fact that Finnish people are more eager to use electronic services. As the latest improvement, NetPosti users can receive and archive e-invoices in their NetPosti mailbox. The possibility to receive e-invoices will significantly increase the number of letters received in NetPosti, which has been one of the service users' wishes. Companies are also becoming more active in offering electronic salary calculations for their employees. As the increase in electronic services is favored by different parties of society, the resulting benefits can also be seen more easily, Sarèn says.
In the recent years, NetPosti has been developed by integrating it as part of other services. For example, S-Bank and the omaoulu.fi portal in the city of Oulu have introduced NetPosti as part of their services, and a similar integration process is ongoing at Tapiola Bank.
NetPosti comprises Finland's largest receipt and processing service for digital mail designed for consumers. It provides consumers with the most content, the most senders, and the most versatile and longest archiving possibilities, in addition to which it is independent of any banks. NetPosti enables electronic transactions for a number of households by receiving and archiving customer mail, ranging from salary calculations to invoices and warranty receipts.
