Posti recycles used bags and textiles for Globe Hope design products

Used mail bags and Posti workwear are now receiving a new, unique life as design products. Through cooperation between Posti and Glope Hope, plastic mail bags have been sewn into shopping bags, penholders and pouches. Shirt and jacket cloth is used as lining for clip purses and laptop sleeves, as well as in shopping bags. The products will be available for sale at the beginning of May.
Glope Hope, a Finnish company that has attracted extensive interest globally, creates clothing and accessories from materials that no longer serve their original purpose.
"The cooperation is a perfect match for Posti's green thinking and environmental program. We have hundreds of kilograms of material that has previously been recycled into energy. Now the material is re-used in a creative way. Finnishness and Finnish design are important values in Glope Hope products and suit Posti's product range," says Rita Sadinkangas, Posti's Consumer Services.

These products are part of the Itella Green environmental program. The program includes carbon-neutral Itella Green shipments offered for companies, and the most important element: a diverse program for reducing Itella's own carbon dioxide emissions. The main methods for this are improving energy efficiency and using renewable energy that causes less emissions. Itella's goal is to cut its carbon dioxide emissions by 30% by 2020 (compared to 2007, in relation to turnover).
