30.04.2010
Itella and Finnish stamps will be showcased at the Shanghai World EXPO 2010. The Expo runs from the beginning of May until the end of October, and over 240 countries and international organizations will participate. The expected number of visitors to this Expo, the largest of all time, is 80 million.
| The Finnish Pavilion at the Expo is called Kirnu, or "Giant's Kettle", and it represents modern Finnish architecture. The unique and impressive Pavilion is also presented in the Finnish miniature booklet designed by Jenni Erkintalo. The booklet will be published on May 4, right before the Expo opens, and it contains two First Class no-value indicator stamps. | ![]() |
The miniature booklet and associated stationery cards as well as other Finnish philatelic supplies will be available for purchase in the Finnish Pavilion.
- The stamps represent Finnish design and modern architecture at their best and depict Finland's participation in the World EXPO 2010, says Markku Penttinen, Director of the Itella Philatelic Center.
