Registration is a good service to use when you need a receipt for your shipment. Items are only handed over against the signature of the addressee or a person authorised by the addressee.

Registered Letters can be posted to all countries at the speed specified for Priority letters.

In Finland:
 Registered Letters, if correctly addressed, are usually delivered on the next working day following posting.

Internationally:

  • Nordic countries 2–4 working days
  • Rest of Europe 3–10 working days
  • Rest of the world 5–10 working days

The estimates do not include the time required for possible Customs clearance.

Indications and Codes

In Finland:
The item is provided with a Registered Letter address label with an individual tracking barcode.

Internationally:
International Registered Letters use the same despatch notes as Registered Domestic Letters, with the notification of arrival section removed. Letters containing goods sent to EU countries do not require a separate Customs declaration.

The green Customs label (CN 22) must be used for mailings with a destination outside the EU and also in the special regions outside the EU excise and value-added tax area.

If the item’s value exceeds EUR 300, please complete the required number of the larger Customs declarations forms (CN 23) in a language understood in the destination country.
Sending

Mailed at a postal outlet, sorting office or terminal. Posti can also collect items from the sender (service subject to charge).

Registered Letters must not be left in a postbox.
Track & Trace

In Finland, deliveries can be tracked using the tracking code attached to the item, through the Track & Trace Service or by contacting our Customer Service.

Internationally, tracking is available in Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Receiving

Only in Finland:
A notification of arrival is delivered to the addressee.

Items are only handed over against the signature of the addressee or a person authorised by the addressee. If the sender specifies that the item may only be delivered to the addressee, no one else is authorised to receive it.

Retaining

Only in Finland:
Deliveries that cannot have been handed over to the recipient will be retained at the outlet for two (2) full calendar weeks in addition to the week of arrival. The notice of arrival indicates the deadline for picking up the delivery from the outlet. A second notice of arrival will not be sent.

Forwarding from outlet to outlet will not extend the combined retention period at different outlets.
Restrictions as to Content

No cash or valuables.
The postal service can only assume responsibility for cash, securities or other valuables if they are sent as Insured Items.
