Permanent change of address

Submit your change-of-address notification online

Your new address information will be updated with one notification both for Posti and the national Population Information System.

From the Population Information System, it will be automatically submitted to the authorities and several other parties.

Posti will also submit information on your new address to the customer registers of several companies, if you are among their customers. If you do not want your information to be used for Posti's address services, you can notify this at https://yhteystietoni.posti.fi/ or by mailing a free-form written notification to the following address: Itella Posti Oy, Yhteystietopalvelut, P.O Box 777, 00011 ITELLA. The notification should include your name, address, social security number, and signature.

By law, the Local Register Office must be notified of changes of address and emigration whenever your home municipality or the location of your residence within the municipality changes. The notification must be submitted no later than one week after the change of address. Your permanent address determines, for instance, the municipality in which you are taxed, your polling station and access to certain services related to social security. A confirmation will be sent to the person concerned once the notification is registered. Such a confirmation will not be sent abroad.

Redirecting service

Posti will redirect all addressed postal items and, within Finland, parcels containing goods, from your former to your new address for the period you require. The service is free of charge for a period of one month.

You will receive a confirmation of your change-of-address notification (permanent move) together with an offer to continue the redirecting service. You can extend the redirecting service by contract, one year at a time.

Move abroad

All changes of address abroad from Finland and to Finland from abroad must be notified either over the Internet or by using a form.

When moving abroad, Posti will redirect all 1st and 2nd class letter mail addressed to your address abroad free of charge for one month. If you would like your letter items to be redirected for a longer period, you can extend the redirection service, subject to a charge, when submitting your notification of change-of-address.
