Transport of dangerous goods

We offer our customers the opportunity to transport dangerous goods safely and lawfully in Finland.

What are dangerous goods?

Dangerous goods are goods that, due to their explosive, flammable or radiating nature, toxicity, corrosiveness or other characteristics, may cause damage to people, property or the environment. The transport of dangerous goods is governed by international regulations and national law.

In Finland, transport of dangerous goods is possible through Posti as freight, ADR parcels or as LQ-packed parcels. Customers are responsible for ensuring that their products and actions comply with international law and Posti's terms and conditions.

Methods of sending dangerous goods

Small quantity of dangerous goods

  • Strictly limited classifications, quantities of goods and packing methods
  • The LQ Processpermit additional service is suitable for all parcel products
  • No air transport
  • Electronic advance information (an EDI message) is mandatory
  • LQ information and gross mass information are included in the EDI message and the address label
  • No TDG appendix is required for shipping documentation and it is not required to mark the item with VAK (TDG) tape
  • An LQ warning label must be attached to the parcel

Larger quantities of dangerous goods

  • Includes almost all dangerous goods classifications and quantities up to 1000 kg/litre
  • Only possible as parcel services with additional service ADR (VAK) or LQ Transport (LQ Kuljetus) and freight
  • An LQ gross mass notification or a document including the TDG information is required
  • No air transport
  • Package markings required by law must be included on the package, such as the UN number and warning labels or Limited quantity (LQ) warning label and with parcel services Posti's VAK (TDG) tape
